1st Battalion’s inter-war deployments included India (), Sudan (), Egypt () and Palestine (). At the same time, 2nd Battalion served in Ireland (), the West Indies (), China () and India ().

Inthe regiment's title was changed to The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's). The Regiments were amalgamated in as part of the Childers Reforms which restructured the British army into a network of multi-battalion Regiments and became the Princess Louise's Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.

The Regiment went on to serve in South Africa, Ceylon, Hong Kong and the Boer War as well as two World Wars. History of the 1st Battalion Princess Louise's Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
